Research showed that the Dutch population was unaware of the ingredients and origin of McDonald's products. McDonald's wanted to build on their strategy of transparency by making information such as the nutritional values and ingredients of their products accessible to the general public anywhere and any time.
People nowadays are very aware of what they eat and expect transparency especially when it comes to food, such as nutritional value and allergy information. McDonald's products are usually enjoyed together with friends and family, and so there was a demand for the ability to locate a McDonald's restaurant in the vicinity as quickly as possible.
Using the location-based abilities of the mobile phone, the nearest McDonald’s restaurant can always be found. Due to the use of a dynamic database, product information and the opening hours of each McDonald’s restaurant can be displayed. Furthermore, new products can be loaded into the app in a matter of seconds, which keeps all the information up-to-date.
Our vast experience with maps and guides enabled us to help McDonald’s provide its customers with a tool to always locate the nearest McDonald’s restaurant, and access up-to-date nutritional and allergy information. We included an order feature to enable groups of people to list their food and drinks to enable a faster ordering process in the restaurants.
McDonald’s foresees many future features and saw us as an ideal long-term partner, able to innovate both technically and strategically.
